BIOSTELLAR HP-C Series Aluminum Hot Plate Selection Guide

BIOSTELLAR HP‑5C, HP‑6C, HP‑7C, HP‑8C, and HP‑9C are aluminum alloy hot plates with a maximum operating temperature of 350℃. The only key difference across the series is the heating plate size—larger plates allow more samples or bigger vessels to be heated at once.Aluminum plates provide uniform heat distribution and easy cleaning, making them ideal for most general laboratory applications. However, operation above 350℃ is strictly prohibited, as overheating causes oxidation, deformation, temperature drift, and safety hazards.

1. Key Specification Comparison (Heating Plate Size Only)

Specification:

Model Heating Plate Size (mm)
HP‑5C 300 × 300
HP‑6C 350 × 450
HP‑7C 400 × 400
HP‑8C 350 × 600
HP‑9C 400 × 600

2. Suitable Industries for Aluminum Hot Plates

  1. Pharmaceutical IndustrySample pretreatment, QC laboratory heating, dissolution test support, pharmaceutical R&D.
  2. Universities & Research InstitutesRoutine heating in chemistry, biology, environmental and materials laboratories, teaching experiments, sample drying and incubation.
  3. Food & Agricultural TestingSample drying, digestion preparation, constant temperature testing, food safety analysis.
  4. Chemical & Fine Chemical IndustryRoutine synthesis reactions, reagent incubation, solvent evaporation, sample drying.
  5. CDC & Medical LaboratoriesSample drying, glassware preheating, clinical and disease control testing.
  6. General Industrial R&D LabsHeating, drying and pretreatment in electronics, materials, coating and other non-corrosive environments.

3. Key Analysis: Why Not Suitable Above 350℃

  1. Temperature limit of aluminum alloyAluminum oxidizes, yellows and softens rapidly above 350℃. Long-term overheating leads to warping and deformation, severely reducing heating uniformity.
  2. Surface coating thermal limitationThe surface treatment is designed for stable long-term use up to 350℃. Exceeding this causes coating aging, peeling, and reduced corrosion resistance.
  3. Heating and control system rated at 350℃Heating elements, sensors and circuits are all rated for 350℃. Over-temperature operation results in temperature drift, accelerated aging, and higher failure rates.
  4. Increased safety risksExcessively high surface temperature raises burn risks, while accelerated wire aging increases short-circuit and fire hazards.

4. Selection Recommendation

  • Small samples, compact space, teaching → HP‑5C
  • General laboratory daily use → HP‑6C (Most recommended)
  • Square plate, batch sample processing → HP‑7C
  • Long plate, multi-row sample heating → HP‑8C
  • Maximum size, industrial use, large vessels → HP‑9C
  • For applications above 350℃ → NOT suitable; choose ceramic high-temperature hot plates
